Comments about Royal Canadian Mint Fine Silver Kilo Coin - 125th Anniversary of Banff National Park (2010):

I have visited Banff several times and it is surely one of the most beautiful places in the world. Once I saw this coin, I had to have it!

The images featured on the coin are a journey through its many unique places and features, including the Hot Springs, Banff Springs Hotel, Mounties, glaciers, etc. The workmanship, as always, is exquisite and the RCM is to be commended for an inspiring tribute to the Park.

The one thing I dislike about this and other large format Canadian coins is the relatively poor use of the space available on the obverse of the coin, where the Queen's image is shown. The RCM would do itself a favor if this were made, let's say, a bit more interesting.

Finally, it's interesting to compare this coin with the recent "America the Beautiful" series 5-oz coins released by the US Mint. The RCM's coin is a proof coin with very limited mintage, while the USM coins are bullion finish, with up to 60,000 of each released in 2010. The Banff coin is an extremely good value at current prices, considering its very limited mintage and proof finish. If you can, grab one!

Comments about Royal Canadian Mint Fine Silver Kilo Coin - 125th Anniversary of Banff National Park (2010):

While I was visiting, I bought the kilo coin at the vancoouver RCM store. I liked it because of the overwhelming size and the limited qunantity. Upon arriving home, a detail examination discovered a tiny black dot/ pitting like dust at 12 o'clock of the coin which's an eye sore. I'm still pondering whether I should return it because of the defect! This is disappointing because I was expecting it to be perfect at this price and limited quantity!!

This coin has stunning artwork that reflects the best of Canadian history and wilderness. I love the minute intricate details in the pictures. The pictures reflect tradition. I also like the low mintage of 750.

video

Comments about Royal Canadian Mint Fine Silver Kilo Coin - 125th Anniversary of Banff National Park (2010):

the video part is an important part to the coin design and the designer would be glad that people could recognized his effort. I suggest that the video part should be able for people to download and keep with the coin as part of the history. At least the purchaser and the master club members should be able to download the video.
